Face Genius Idol Takes Over the Entertainment Industry – 33

    Self-Produced Content (1)

“We are currently on our way to the Sancheoneo Festival!”

Dongju nearly burst into laughter at Shin’s voice, which was one tone higher than usual. As the scene was captured on the camcorder, Shin put on a noticeably sulky face.

“Just be honest. If you don’t want to see it, say you don’t want to see it.”

“Okay- I don’t want to see it-!”

As Dongju’s loud voice rang out, laughter erupted simultaneously. Fans were pre-warned by Shin that they liked this honest yet not-so-honest attitude.

‘The kind of look the fans want to see.’

Although it was a challenging standard, recalling his trainee days, he seemed to understand. They started as idols wanting to be loved for their cool image, but everyone has a role model.

Shin had them analyze what their role models were like in their early days as a mission.

So, having drawn a line in his head to some extent, they decided to offer a self-produced content for the fans by enjoying the Sancheoneo Festival. Since the concept of Space itself was ‘event idols,’ it was a good opportunity to utilize that.

The interesting part was Minho’s talent shining through here.

    ‘His analytical skills are exceptional.’

Yet, it was puzzling why he hadn’t utilized that ability before returning to the past.

‘Is the answer that he didn’t have the chance?’

Thinking of the past when he ignored his composing abilities despite hearing about them from Dongju, it was likely he dismissed them back then as well.

So, Shin was contemplating getting Minho’s help with video editing too.

“Then, let’s have the great Dongju host the event!”

    “Uh! Uh!”

As Dongju was handed the toy microphone, he kept repeating “Uh!” The camcorder captured everyone’s amused faces as they laughed at Dongju’s antics.

“Then, I’ll take over the hosting again!”

    Hahaha-!

In the laughing atmosphere, CEO Jo Junseong glanced at the Space members through the rearview mirror. He was initially puzzled when Shin proposed the idea but decided to give it a try as Shin’s suggestion to utilize the internet seemed plausible.

Since Space started gaining recognition through the internet, it was rather interesting. If the response was good, continuing the series wouldn’t be a bad idea.

‘It could even be used as a portfolio when promoting the kids.’

    “Alright! That’s a wrap!”

As Shin folded the camcorder, his face showed a sense of liberation. They couldn’t film the entire journey, so they set an internal editing point.

    “Can we sleep now?”

Minho, having exerted all his energy to raise the tension, yawned as he spoke. Telling him he did well and to go ahead and sleep, everyone quickly fell into dreamland.

    “Shin, you should sleep too.”

At CEO Jo Junseong’s words, who was watching the situation through the rearview mirror, Shin leaned back comfortably in his seat. The members were exhausted because they had set out early in the morning. Having filmed a decent amount, it was Shin’s turn to pass out as well.

    * * *

“Wow! It’s cold enough for your breath to show.”

Although the camcorder didn’t capture their breath, it helped to act it out. The expression showed it was cold enough to see one’s breath, even if it wasn’t visible.

As the opening day was a Sunday, there were many people. Shin walked carefully to ensure no civilians appeared on the camcorder screen.

‘This makes me feel like a BJ (Broadcast Jockey).’

Even though he’d cut out as much as possible, if civilians’ faces appeared, he’d edit them to be blurred. Since the opening ceremony was in the afternoon, they decided to spend the remaining time fishing.

“I’m confident when it comes to fishing!”

“Then shall we have a team competition?”

At Shin’s suggestion, Dongju, full of bravado, took his spot. Minho naturally sat next to him. Even though the members had become close, everyone still had their closest friend.

“Then I’ll pair up with Jinwoo.”

Seunghyun grabbed Jinwoo and sat him beside him. Shin looked at the camcorder with a questioning expression as if asking what he should do.

“Then, Shin, you pair up with the CEO.”

Jinwoo’s cheerful voice brought CEO Jo Junseong, who had been off-camera, into the fold. It was a good thing Shin had filmed some footage of the CEO just in case.

“Then we’ll set the time to one hour!”

With Shin’s words, the Space’s ice fishing competition began. When Shin discreetly signaled to Dongju, he quietly stood up and moved to where Jinwoo and Seunghyun were fishing.

    “Huh?”

Seunghyun and Jinwoo, seriously focused on their fishing rods, had no idea what was happening. Watching Dongju secretly steal their bait, Shin nearly burst out laughing.

‘It’s no fun if everyone’s too serious.’

Having at least one rule-breaker makes things more interesting. At that moment, Jinwoo’s enthusiastic voice rang out.

    “I caught one!”

His bright face reminded Shin of the “Find the Golden Chili Pepper” game. As expected, Jinwoo, blessed by the constellation of luck, was the first to catch a Sancheoneo.

“But how do I get it off?”

    “I’ll help you.”

Seunghyun carefully grabbed the Sancheoneo and put it in the bucket. Then he refocused on his fishing rod. But unlike Jinwoo, Seunghyun’s rod didn’t budge.

Jinwoo, excitedly holding the bait again, tilted his head.

His face showed he had realized something was off. However, not grasping exactly what, he rebaited his hook and put the rod back into the ice hole.

‘It’s definitely more fun with a villain.’

Shin gave a thumbs-up to Dongju, who was playing the villain role well. Dongju’s face lit up with mischief again.

Shin was so engrossed in filming, unaware that a Sancheoneo had bitten his own hook. Meanwhile, Jinwoo, seemingly blessed by the fishing constellation, caught fish faster than others. But villain Dongju wasn’t going to leave him alone.

As Shin focused on filming Dongju’s sneaky approach, Seunghyun also sensed something was wrong.

    “Hey! Seo Dongju!”

He happened to be caught red-handed touching the sancheoneo that Jinwoo had just caught. The scene captured Dongju quickly running away, followed by Seunghyun’s reddened face chasing after him.

    “They’re like Tom and Jerry.”

Shin nodded and then burst into laughter as he saw Dongju stumble and fall. Seunghyun, who had been chasing him in anger, was startled by Dongju’s fall and immediately worried about him.

    “Are you okay?”

    “Hahaha.”

Even in this situation, Dongju couldn’t stop laughing, making Seunghyun sigh and give him a gentle knock on the head. Fortunately, Dongju wasn’t hurt.

“Alright! Let’s see which team won, shall we?”

Shin checked each team’s bucket of sancheoneo. But there was a twist.

“Yes! The winning team of the Space Ice Fishing Competition is the team I’m on with the CEO!”

    “Boo- boo-“

Dongju openly booed, but the others accepted the result. They even looked curious about the prize, to which CEO Jo Junseong responded with a solemn face.

“A voucher for a sancheoneo restaurant. Let’s all go eat together, kids!”

In the end, the winning team didn’t matter, as they were all going to eat together. Since they planned to film a mukbang, Shin smiled.

    – Real Event Idols (Subtitle: Ice Fishing Competition)

ㄴ These guys are so funnyㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

    ㄴ Look at him fallingㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

    ㄴ They’re so cuteㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

ㄴ Why do they have so much fun among themselvesㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

The first video was uploaded to the fan cafe. Although it was unclear which fan did it, there seemed to be a diligent fan who quickly shared it, and soon the post spread to other community sites.

[You have completed the mission. The constellation is pleased with your self-produced attention-seeking ability. The constellation is delighted to have found another talent. However, it remarks that your editing skills are lacking. Your presence increases by 4.]

Since the video wasn’t made by a professional, there was no helping it. Minho had edited it to some extent, but it still wasn’t perfect.

‘The first attempt was the worst.’

They indirectly learned the struggles of broadcast writers. Adding the right captions at the right time was no easy task.

    ‘Still, we did our best.’

The video showcased the personalities of all the Space members well. Although they behaved a bit excessively, viewers seemed to enjoy it.

Additionally, because self-produced idol programs were rare compared to those made by broadcasting companies, the response was even more positive. In that sense, YouTube was advantageous.

It was easy for the agency to create and upload promotional content.

‘Thinking about it like that, it’s a bit regretful.’

Unlike YouTube, where they could earn ad revenue, the current video didn’t generate any income.

“Are you going to keep making videos like this?”

Since Dongju, who played the villain role, was the member with the best response, he looked at Shin expectantly with sparkling eyes.

    “That’s the plan.”

    “That sounds fun.”

Dongju was seen rushing to Minho. It looked like he had already thought of related ideas and wanted Minho to review them.

“Why do you need Minho’s review? You can just tell me.”

However, after hearing Dongju’s ideas, Shin was at a loss for words. It was clear that Minho needed to review them. Dongju’s ideas were all things that fans wouldn’t be interested in.

The only salvageable idea was the cover dance video content.

    “Cover dance videos?”

“Yeah, we’ll film us doing other idols’ dances that we practice in our free time.”

Being idols didn’t mean they only practiced their own choreography. During their free time, they often watched and imitated dances from other idol groups.

    Seunghyun’s eyes sparkled dangerously.

“I just got a great idea.”

    “What?”

“How about we cover Black’s songs?”

Although Seunghyun had changed, a person’s core nature doesn’t change much. He might claim to cover Black’s choreography with pure intentions, but from Black and their fans’ perspective, it could be seen differently.

‘We’re trying to be friendly, but you might see it as hostility?’

Although he didn’t say it, Shin was definitely still upset about being attacked by Black’s fans. They had only thanked him privately and hadn’t reached out since.

‘But there’s no need to fight them.’

“Then let’s do this. Let’s cover dance songs of idol groups that debuted around the same time as us. We’ll include Black as one of those groups. That way, they won’t interpret it negatively.”

Although Seunghyun protested, Shin was well aware of Space’s current position. It was a time to appear as humble as possible. Moreover, Shin himself didn’t hold a major grudge against Black.

Just then, CEO Jo Junseong opened the practice room door.

“Guys! I’ve brought news of a big festival!”

For once, Shin saw CEO Jo Junseong brimming with confidence. Recently, he hadn’t seen the CEO at the company much.

He had lost even more weight, making Shin worry about his health, but Jo Junseong seemed more concerned with the current news than his own well-being.

“A charity concert with flowers! This time we were officially invited, not just as a filler!”

With a sense of accomplishment, the members hugged each other joyfully. Shin felt a mix of happiness and sympathy, recognizing the CEO’s hard work to secure this opportunity.
